Calling Scholars
IQEdu-Scientific USA is an Exclusive Scientific Learning Foundation facilitating learning and benefiting Scholars (12-16 years old and beyond). IQEdu-Scientific USA allows Scholars to study Languages, Art, Music, Fashion, Literature, Math, and Scientific Disciplines. IQEdu-USA is the interactive campaign that allows Scholars to learn science, do projects, and be better prepare for science fairs, national/international competitions, and prospective college and career.

Scholars will be selected for the program to attend sessions and workshops. IQEdu-USA is an intensive educational training program designed exclusively for motivated young Scholars who are serious about learning, presenting, participating in national/international competitions, and career development. Intensive sessions will be held in 2015 (see schedule below). Consult the 2015 schedule prior to applying.

Scholars may choose to apply for science fairs, National Intel and SIEMENS  and International competitions must participate in all educational sessions during 2015.

Projects

Project 1: "Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay". Explore infectious diseases using Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) assay. ELISA is a common laboratory technique used to test blood serum for antibodies against disease-causing agents. IQEdu Scholars will work in pairs to diagnose 6 fictitious patients for HIV, Lyme disease, avian influenza (bird flu), or West Nile virus. Hypothetical scenarios will be provided for each patient being tested for each disease. Scholars will analyze the obtained data, write abstract, and prepare PowerPoint presentation. Scholars are encouraged to submit their prepared abstract and PowerPoint presentation for national and international competition.

Projects

DNALC Assay for Antibiotic Resistance
This project will teach IQEdu Scholars about a serious problem facing society-bacterial antibiotic resistance. In addition, this project will introduce IQEdu Scholars basic enzymology assays. IQEdu Scholars will work in pairs. Scholars collect the supernatant from ampicillin-resistant bacterial cultures and perform a simple colorimetric assay to detect the activity of B-lactamase, the enzyme conferring ampicillin resistance. Scholars will analyze the obtained data, write abstract, and prepare PowerPoint presentation. Scholars are encouraged to submit their prepared abstract and PowerPoint presentation for national and international competition.
